Nissan unveils prices and opens orders for its Qashqai E-power. This electrified motorization of a rare kind will be marketed at reasonable prices: only 1,300 euros more than the 158 hp Xtronic Mild-Hybrid engine. Prices start at 38,200 euros for a Qashqai E-power, which benefits from a 190 hp electric motor. A gasoline engine serves as a generator to recharge the battery. It’s a 158 hp three-cylinder turbo with variable compression ratio.
No recharging by socket being possible, this new engine will therefore be classified as a hybrid engine. The driver will therefore have the same driving sensations as for an electric car, with appreciable linearity and smoothness. On the other hand, it will not have the same sonic peace of mind, since the thermal block will have to rotate to recharge the battery.
This version is homologated with a combined consumption of 5.3 L, and CO2 emissions of 119 g.
At Renault, its direct competitor will arrive in a few months and will use another type of hybrid engine: it is the Austral.
The Qashqai E-power range includes 4 versions, all offered with this new E-power engine. It therefore ignores the first Visia prize.
For 38,200 euros, the Acenta finish represents the entry level with standard: reversing camera, e-Pedal Step, 18″ alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, and Apple Car play & Android auto connectivity.
At 40,200 euros, the Qashqai e-Power N-Connecta wins several technological equipment: Combined
12.3″ digital dashboard, front parking sensors, Nissan AVM (360° camera), induction charger and 12.3″ navigation system with touch screen.
The third Tekna trim level is displayed at 43,000 euros. Its equipment is enriched with the following elements: ProPILOT system with Navi-Link, intelligent high beams, mixed leather and fabric upholstery, 19″ alloy wheels, head-up display.
We end with the fourth and final finish, Tekna+, which requires a final effort of 3000 euros compared to the third level of the range. The staffing becomes ultra-complete with equipment that is generally only optional with the competition: Black quilted leather upholstery, Massaging front seats, 20″ alloy wheels, Bose audio system with 10 speakers, Heated seats and steering wheel, Roof panoramic, and roof rails.
If you place an order in June, you can expect to be among the first deliveries that will take place in September.
Already small considering the higher power and potential fuel savings, the price difference between the Mild-Hybrid 158 hp Xtronic and E-power 190 hp engines is even smaller if the penalty is taken into account. Because the 158 hp version is indeed malussed between 330 and 540 euros in 2022, depending on the version and the tire fitment. Enough to further reduce the price difference with this new E-power engine, which is located in the neutral zone. This effectively limits the effort between 760 and 970 euros depending on the finish.
We can therefore imagine that this E-power engine takes precedence over the Mild-Hybrid engine… This however retains an advantage for certain customers in the mountains: it is offered in all-wheel drive.
