MOORESVILLE, NC — Jr III Racing has added rising Road to Indy star Nolan Siegel to its roster for the June 26 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, the third round of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.
The driver duo of Garett Grist and Ari Balogh are joined by Siegel in the #30 Airbnb Ligier JS P320 for the annual six-hour classic.
The aspiring open-wheel driver made his IMSA WeatherTech debut earlier this year at the prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona, where he finished sixth in the LMP3 category.
Last season, Siegel competed in four IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge races in the GS category, where the young racer finished sixth best at Lime Rock Park and completed his first run at Watkins Glen International.
Siegel will continue to build on his racing resume having previously won the 2018 SimRaceway F3 Championship. The 18-year-old racer is currently competing in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship, where he has had two wins, two poles and two other podiums so far this season.
Before coming to the Indy Pro 2000 ranks, Siegel got his start in karting and worked his way through the 2019-2021 USF2000 Championship. Last season he scored his first win of the series at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen will be Siegel’s second race at Watkins Glen International as he looks forward to returning to an LMP3 car in the middle of his Indy Pro 2000 season.
“I’m really excited to start Jr III at Watkins Glen,” said Siegel. “It will be my first race with the team and we had a successful test there. I’m really grateful that Ari and Billy (Glavin, Jr III team owner) gave me the opportunity to ride with the team and it will be a pleasure working with them this weekend.”
Jr III Racing has continued to expand its program to maintain campaigns in both the IMSA Prototype Challenge series and the championship-leading IMSA WeatherTech program.
“I’m very excited to bring Nolan on board,” said Glavin. “He did great in Daytona in the Mühlner car and knows Garett (Grist) from his Open Wheel days. Of course, winning this year at St Pete and Barber showed that he definitely has the pace that we need. He has IMSA experience in LMP3 as well as Watkins Glen experience in GT4 so we thought it would be a good fit. We tested with him last week and he fitted perfectly into the team, had a great attitude and was comfortable in the car. Good pace and we look forward to seeing what he can do.”
Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen will be the second endurance event for Jr III Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech season.
After missing the first endurance race at Daytona, Jr III Racing came back strong at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring where the team finished second.
